Daniel W. McCawley, DDS

    Daniel McCawley was raised in Flora, Illinois where he went on to attend Eastern Illinois University.  After three years of studies, he was accepted for early admission to Dental School at the University of Illinois, Chicago campus.  He interned at the Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  During this internship he had the privilege of training under Dr. William K. Mopper, who is widely recognized as the father of modern bonding.  In 1975, Dr. McCawley relocated his practice from Illinois to South Florida and in 1981 he purchased his current office on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

    For more than 20 years, Dr. McCawley taught bonding and cosmetic dentistry to other dentists at Broward County Dental Research Clinic.  He is also part of a group made up of 300 dentists worldwide who evaluate new dental products for Clinicians Report, formerly known as “CRA”.  Clinicians Report is an organization created to test new products and report the unbiased results in a periodical similar to Consumer Reports.

    Dr. McCawley balances his life by playing competitive tennis and enjoying time with his family.  In addition to his wife, Carol, he has two sons, two daughters, and 11 grandchildren.  Dr. McCawley is a fantastic tennis player and has competed on local and state levels for many years.  He has won the state championship in the 55+ Doubles category as well as countless others accreditations over the years.  Dr. McCawley also loves technology and combines this with his career to stay on the cutting edge of the dental industry.  This passion for technology also spills over into his personal life from his state of the art electric car to his eco-friendly lawn mower and accessories.  He believes in living a healthy lifestyle and leaving a very small carbon footprint for the generations to come. 

Hygiene

Many patients loyally visit Dr. McCawley’s office due to the outstanding treatment and care they receive from the world class hygiene staff. Working along side his staff, he is able to monitor his patient’s records and integrate his minimally invasive practices during routine cleanings. Each of the hygienists in Dr. McCawley’s office have impressive resumes and have been on staff in excess of 10 years.

Ashley joined the team in 2000 and is a native of Fort Lauderdale. Ashley’s upbeat demeanor and fantastic people skills delight her patients and uplift those around her. She received her hygiene degree from Tallahassee Community College in 1998. Ashley and her husband, Dave, love kayaking and fishing in the Florida Keys on weekends and holidays.

Sloan has been with Dr. McCawley since 2004 and has been a valued addition to the hygiene staff. Sloan completed her dental hygiene degree at Miami-Dade Community College in 1989 and has also earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Nova University. She and her husband, Nick, have four sons. Sloan is an extreme animal lover and dedicates much of her time to her family and pets.

Maggie has been our “Friday” girl for over 20 years now. Maggie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from Marquette University in 1979. She currently resides in Plantation with her husband and they have 2 sons. Maggie is a long time runner and has competed in marathons as well as competitive mud runs across the state.

Dental Assistants

Dr. McCawley has three highly skilled dental assistants in his office to expedite the work flow and allow for more one on one time with each of his patients. These assistants play a key role in the quality patient care provided by the office daily.

Kim was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Missouri School for Dr.’s Assistants in 1984. Kim also earned her certification in radiology and expanded duties there as well. Kim’s go-getter attitude and organization skills keep the office running like a well oiled machine. She has been happily married to Rocky “Balboa” for 6 years now and has two kids, John and Alaina. Kim and Rocky enjoy spending time outdoors and you can often find them soaking up some sun at the pool or detailing their cars on the weekend.

JR is the newest addition to the office staff, joining Dr. McCawley in 2012. JR served in the United States Army from 1983-1987. She earned her expanded duties and RDA license from Brookdale College in New Jersey. JR has an upbeat and energetic personality combined with extreme discipline that could only be acquired by proudly serving our country. She has been a dental assistant for 23 years now and is happily married with one son. JR and her husband enjoy their Harley Davidson motorcycle and they are riding as long as the sun is shining. She is also a self admitted “Gym-rat” and stays fit by running as well as teaching Kardo Jitsu Ru, a traditional form of kick boxing.

Tami joined the staff in 1997 and worked closely with Dr. McCawley until 2006 when a business opportunity arose. After leaving in 2006 to pursue this opportunity, Tami has returned in 2015, with enthusiasm and passion for her work. She received her expanded duties and radiology certification from the University of Florida in 1981. Tami and her husband, Bill, spend their free time antiquing and she also loves to bake while spending time with family and her two dogs.

Office Management

Scotty is Dr. McCawley’s office manager and has been working with him for over 35 years now. Scotty has an amazing ability to multitask, creating a busy schedule for the office staff while working with patients and their insurance to handle appointments and billing. Scotty is our original Office PC and rolodex, lightyears ahead of modern technology. Prior to working with Dr. McCawley, she spent 10 years teaching elementary school in Broward County. Married to her husband, Mike, they have a daughter, two sons, and three grandsons. Scotty and Mike are both into tennis and play doubles matches whenever they have the opportunity.

Claudia works part-time for Dr. McCawley at the front desk. Claudia was also a Broward County school teacher for 10 years. She and her husband, David, reside in Fort Lauderdale and have two daughters. Claudia and David are avid golfers and combine their sport with their love of travel, playing golf at home and while away.

Carol not only works for Dr. McCawley but is married to him as well. Carol helps in many areas of the office including payroll and front desk duties. Her bubbly and laugh-inducing personality always brings smiles and cheer to those around her.  While Carol may stay behind the scenes on occasion, she is a valued asset to the office staff and patients.
